Le marché de Papeete

One of Papeete's most popular assets is it's market.
Under it's metal roof in the centre of Papeete are two stories of typically Tahitian produce, art, crafts and products. Prices are pretty standard with the rest of the city, but it is certainly the place with the most character, friendly smiles and the most ambiance!  I think it’s worth the extra money to keep markets and other home spun places like this one in business and us out of the corporate circus.
The market has it’s musicians, like Rafio who brings Tahitian ukulele
(different in shape and tone from the Hawaiian ukulele) music to enrich the experience.  There are flowers and leis in profusion and children of course, a little bit everywhere.
