Pueo was a sweet little fishing port on Tahiti Iti. I stopped there on my way to the Plateau de Taravo to eat a delicious tuna brochette done on the barbecue in the parking lot of the little port.
The ladies there were quite surprised to find that I travelled alone and so were solicitous and generous with their advice. They strongly advised me not to go to the plateau de Taravo where, according to them, there were too many "voyous" who stopped tourists, robbed them and had recently done one harm.
As a Solo traveller I tend to take that sort of local advice just a tad more seriously than people who travel in groups or tourists on escorted tours. I prefer to err on the side of caution and forgo a specific site at least until I've had more information. In the case of the Plateau of Taravo, I decided to leave the Belvedere at the top of the hill for another day.
