I'd spend almost two weeks discovering Tahiti and I was ready to go explore other islands. It's funny how some places feel like home from the moment you set foot there.
Huahine was like that for me!
It may have been the warm and friendly welcome of the "Guynette pension" owner Laurence who met me at the airport, or the island itself, who is thought to either welcome or repel it's visitors. In any case I was welcomed and felt at home there.
Pension Guynette is not only a very pleasant stay but also wonderfully located across the street from the ocean, overlooking the hills and islands which together they call "the pregnant woman". The front courtyard is a restaurant open for breakfast and lunch, the food is delicious and the atmosphere convivial.
It's a very small town, one street and a handful of shops. It is also a port to accommodate the cargoes that sail between the islands.
Most of all the locals were friendly and the nearby Yacht club restaurant on the edge of the water was lively with music and chatter all evening.
